(Anarchism / Intersectionality / Decolonization) Feedback Loop For Anarkatas, Black Intersectional Feminism and Decolonization aren’t optional ideological stances. Together they are instrumental in addressing the complexities of systemic ableism, cis hetero patriarchy, transmisogynoir, Racism, anti-indigeneity, imperialism, colonialism, poverty, class, land, property, prison abolition, cultural theft, exploitation and capitalism, providing a map to areas of need and a course of action respectively. Informing and informed broadly by the principles of Anarchism and guided more specifically by our own Black anarchic traditions, the centering of these struggles and analyzes in tangible ways should form the core of our focus and effor... What Is Anarkata? “Anarkata” emerges as a response to the political alienation that has been experienced by Black anarcho adjacent leftists who reject both the whiteness of traditional anarchism and the authoritarianism of some forms of Black nationalism. 21st century “Black Anarchism” as a concept has recently gained more popularity as the works of Lucy Parsons, Lorenzo Kom’boa Ervin, and Kuwasi Balagoon, have become more widely disseminated on the internet (and especially with the publication of the ‘Black Anarchism Reader’). This increased attention and visibility has provided a degree of validation to those of us who are Black radicals that share a common belief in the need for dec... (From: TheAnarchistLibrary.org.)
“We say we’re not going to fight capitalism with black capitalism, but we’re going to fight it with socialism”. -Ferd Hampton LIFE UNDER CAPITALISM Life under Capitalism is not just the “normal” state of affairs or the result of “human nature”. Capitalism is a fundamentally Racist, anti-Black, sexist, eco-cidal and exploitative economic system based on private ownership of the means of production (land, factories, equipment, etc) and their operation for profit by the few at the expense of the many. Characteristics central to capitalism include the ownership of private property (not to be confused with public property or personal property), capital accumulatio... (From: TheAnarchistLibrary.org.)
The following is a necessary clarification about the grounds for anarchic activity and tendencies within some aspects of the Black liberation movement of the 21st century. There are many ideas, both within and outside of Black non/anti-hierarchic or non/anti-authoritarian visions of communist revolution, about the nature of power, or perhaps even the power of nature. This text seeks to dig up and dig into one of these visions, to share an outlook that a number of revolutionary organizers have enacted or performed, almost like mycorrhizae, sprouting up here and there to be seen on occasion while often remaining in an underground, hidden, symbiotic (and sometimes even pathogenic) relationship to the radicalisms at work in the discursive and p... From an Anarkata- I went to the Midwest Leftist Assembly to present a workshop with my homey —— on Black Anarchisms, and to connect with other Black radicals working in different parts of the region. I came with a lot of excitement and hope that folks would engage with us and the material. I wound up facing down an armed wh te leftist who was visibly agitated that attention had been brought to the rampant anti Blackness of security, organizers, and other participants by my friend, a Black woman, who had been profiled and targeted for harassment throughout the weekend. So when I tell you that the wh te left has a problem with racism, I’m telling you so that other Black, Brown & Indigenous folx are n... (From: TheAnarchistLibrary.org.)
Black liberation is a living lineage. All of us inherit it and all of us can be part of it. Like with any people's tradition, we have to go back and fetch the history of Black freedom struggle, and place ourselves within this beautiful heritage of resistance, in order to begin understanding how we roll and why. Black Anarchic Radicals, aka ''Anarkatas,'' trace our revolutionary trajectory all the way back to precolonial Africa, to some of the communal, gender fluid, ecologically sensitive, and egalitarian societies indigenous to the Motherland. But more immediately, how we move is traced to lessons learned from the Black Panther Party (BPP), the Street Trans Action Revolutionaries (STAR), and the Black Liberation Army (BLA) in the mi... Afrofuturist Abolitionists of the Americas is a collective of revolutionaries within the Black freedom struggle and Afrikan liberation efforts, who bring a speculative vibe to our radical work. We believe the destruction of kkkaptivity, of kkkages, of kkkapital, of kkkolonialism, will always require a transgressive imagination that seeks to push against boundaries and other forms of enclosure. Afrofuturist Abolitionists of the Americas seeks to harness the Black Speculative Art Movement toward those ends. An “abolition futurist” is anyone who is aligned with this practice—anyone who believes, like us, that a dance within the gap between the “material” (or what is here) and the “metaphysical&... They call it the Big Easy, but it ain’t easy any more, They call it the Big Easy but it ain’t easy anymore. I’m feelin’ lost and so forsaken, my soul can’t bear much more. — from “Big Easy Blues” Introduction to the 4th World First is first, we need to talk about 4th world, because without the understanding of this term, the whole point will be lost and skewed. “Fourth world” is an extension of the three world model, and can be defined as “Sub populations existing in a First World country, but with the living standards of those in a third world, or developing country.” While following the three world models classifi...
